The Council is composed of seven persons—the executive committee, which consists of four officers (the president, president-elect, vice president and past president) and the following invited participants or their designees: the president of the American Industrial Hygiene Association, the chair of the American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists and the chair of the American Board of Industrial Hygiene.
Each of the officers serve a one-year term. The vice president is elected each year and advances to president-elect and then to president in the subsequent years. Terms in office begin and end at the time of the Academy's annual conference, PCIH, which is generally held in the fall. The Academy Council may create and abolish committees to carry out specific assignments.
Are you interested in serving as an officer on the Academy Council, or do you know someone who would make an excellent officer? The Academy is looking for nominees for the position of vice president. This is a four-year commitment, with annual rotation through the officer positions. At the expiration of the one-year term, the vice president automatically becomes president-elect, the president-elect automatically becomes president, and the president assumes the role of past president.
